Arbindra, I wanted to just take a few minutes and speak to you honestly about your notes and address each one. Your note to Carl asks “How are you, no mail for a long time, what’s the problem?” Well, the problem is that Carl does respond to you but you don’t seem to recognize that. In our culture, your words are confrontational. They imply that we have been remiss in corresponding with you, which is not the case.
You asked about the boys and myself? We are all well, dealing with life at home, prior to our return to Nepal. Yes, we intend on coming back to Nepal and I look forward to seeing you then.
OK, now down to the main reason for your note, “Hey Carl, nothing progress on me, day by day, I am facing lots of problems in my business and in my life.” Well, I have to say, we are interested in offering you a solution but I fear that it’s not a solution that you would be interested in hearing about. You see, we see the problem in your life as defined by your total separation from God? I can easily recall your office and the lovely worship box that you maintain there. Why has the worship that you profess to believe in not helped you deal with your financial concerns and your spiritual concerns? Have your prayers and offerings not proven to be of value.
Hear me loud and clear when I say that we are unable to give you money at this time, nor do we think it would solve any of your problems. Sure, it might help for a day or two, but when the money is gone, perhaps your life would even be worse than it currently is? I assure you that money isn’t your problem. Your business isn’t your problem. The problem is that you have distanced yourself from a loving God who truly cares about you and wants you to draw near to him.
I decided to respond to your message with a far greater gift than money, which is the gift of eternal life and all that goes with it.
Arbindra? Do you want peace in your life? Solution = GOD
Arbindra? Do you want to be free from worry in your life? Solution = GOD
Arbindra? Do you want to make the most of your life? Solution = GOD
Do you think all of our time in Nepal was for pleasure or for some type of gain? No… I assure you it was not. Our time in Nepal was because Nepal is filled with thousands of Nepalis that are far worse than you. You know what… you are eating every day. Sure, you’re not going to Fire and Ice every day, but you’ve got food on the table. You’ve got a roof over your head. You’ve got good friends and family. You’ve got a reason to get up to every morning and a place to rest your head. In truth, you are blessed beyond what you deserve or need. You have been supplied in abundance.
The best thing that you could ever do is leave Kathmandu and take a trip to the Indian border, or maybe to Rolpa, or maybe to some of the unknown and unmapped regions of Nepal. There you would see your countrymen in such a sorrowful and pitiful state that you would wonder how you could have ever thought that you were desperate? Hungry, worn down, uneducated… heartbreaking. Look at your hands Arbindra. Are they not clean and well healed? When I go to the village, the people are infected with every disease known to mankind. Their bodies are broken, lying in ruins at young ages, so lost and desperate, their lands ravaged by war.
Your mistake today is that Carl forwarded your email to me asking for prayer for you. Perhaps he thought that I would be broken for your pleas of mercy and need for money. Instead, I am broken for the plea of your heart… perhaps you should have written the note in truth…
HI Carl, it’s me Arbindra;
How are you? I wrote to you but I didn’t like your response back. I want to talk about money, not my spiritual condition, not what is really going on in my heart. This is about me Carl… it’s all about me. I am facing a lot of financial problems and it’s your job to do something about it. Carl, I know that you have money. Send it to me. I will pay you back with interest. You need to trust me although I tend to only talk to you about the need for money. After all, aren’t friendships based on money. Send me money as soon as you get this note. I know that you have money. You need to send me some. I deserve it from you because God has blessed you with it but has left me bitter and dry. I’m not responsible for my words but I need money, and I need it now. Oh, and by the way… I love you! Arbindra.
Here’s my message to you today Arbindra, if this is what Nepali love looks like and friendship, who in their right mind would want it? By the way, just how much money would be enough to solidify your friendship with Carl? $5.00, $500., $5000., $50,000.?
Let me remind you that if we happen to get money, it most likely will be going to the starving and war-torn dying people of Nepal who have yet to hear of the Gospel. You see, your ears are closed to a loving Savior who longs to make your life better, but others are not. They are on the brink of death, worried about where their next rice will come from, where their next drink will come from, whether or not they will survive the winter season.
You have my permission to post this on the front of your business door. True friendship and love does not revolve around money. It resolves in lifting up and encouraging one another. It involves telling someone the truth, even when it hurts, it involves honesty and concern.
Today, I have given you those gifts and pray that they are received in the Spirit for which I intended.
About Heaven To enter God’s kingdom, you must be born again. Just look to Jesus Christ, who died for your sins on the cross, and believe in Him and His love for you, and that transformation will take place. Thus the question, “Have you been born again by the Spirit of God?” If not, the process is very simple. Today you’re in one of two camps; it all depends on your relationship to Jesus Christ. You can both believe and look in faith to Jesus, who died for you on the cross; or you can continue going on as you are. It’s an amazing thing—to be lost; you don’t have to do anything. Just keep on doing what you’re doing now and you will perish.
But, if you look to the cross and believe in the One who died for your sins, then the free gift of God is yours… The gift of eternal life.
The Bible says:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—Romans 3:23
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out—Acts 3:19
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life—John 3:16
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved—Romans 10:9
If you want a personal relationship with God and the assurance that your sins have been forgiven, here is a suggested prayer…
Father, I come to you, confessing my sin and asking for your forgiveness. I thank you, Lord, for You have promised that if I will confess my sins, You will be faithful to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I want to turn from my sins, and live in a way that will please You. And so I ask for your help, Lord. I ask that you give me the power through your Holy Spirit to live the right way.
I thank you that Jesus Christ died on the cross, paying the price for my sins, and then rose from the dead. I accept Him now as my Savior, my Lord, and my friend.
I also thank You, because You’ve said that whoever comes to You, You will in no way cast out. Thank you for giving me a new life in Christ. I surrender myself to you. Make me what you want me to be in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you have decided to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are now born again. Here are a few things that will help you to grow as a Christian…
PRAY—prayer is like a telephone line that goes directly to God. It’s important to spend time talking to Him every day, the more the better (Philippians 4:6).
READ THE BIBLE—the Bible is like a love letter from God. The more you read it, the more you’ll fall in love with Him (1 Peter 2:2).
FELLOWSHIP—you need to have friends who share your beliefs and who can encourage you. This is why it’s so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can meet other Christians (Hebrews 10:24-25).
WITNESS TO OTHERS—share your faith in Jesus Christ with others. Pray that the Lord will reveal how you should witness and when (Mark 16:15).
God bless you and we pray that you continue to grow closer to the Lord every day!
